Moving to another house
Without my kids
Without my spouse
Was difficult and so very lous

Moving to another state
Of mind helped me recuperate
Sharing the kids we show
We love them great
-ly
God is great and oh so good
Always gives more
than I thought He would
Increases my joy and
Helps me not be so mood
-y
For my life He still has plans
Walking happily hand-in-hand
Daily making me more of a man
Pouring out His grace grand

Homecoming

This was written a few years ago ... Homecoming. Sunday, Chunky Baptist Church will celebrate its homecoming. My brother is the guest speaker. Lunch will follow. For a lot of us, the word "homecoming" has certain connotations -- food, fellowship, honoring a person or group, celebration, memories, friends and family. Whether associated with church, sports or anything else, little changes. But for those of us who don't live, worship or attend that "home" anymore, it's not a coming, it's a going. We're home-going. General's Sketch pencils and toothed sketching paper, Community Coffee and its aromatic vapor, Speckled butterbeans and Buffalo wings, These are a few of my favorite things! Star Wars and Star Trek and Stargate the movie, SGU, Lost, and Bob's Burgers are groovy, Criminal Minds and new guitar strings, Even that Josh Whedon cancelled show thing. Black and white movies and certain old teachers, McQueen and the series of books 'bout Jack Reacher, Dekker and Clancy, Bradbury and King, These are a few of my favorite things. When the bugs bite, when the kids fight, When I'm feeling morose, I just think of a few of my favorite things, Then wish for a root beer float.
